Adagio Academy of the Performing Arts is owned and operated by Jessica “Jes” Stephey, a local dancer who has been training in, performing, and teaching the performing arts for 25 years. Her main areas of expertise are Ballet and Tap, but also has extensive training in and has taught Jazz, Contemporary, and Musical Theater. She spent most of the early 2000s in NYC dancing at Broadway Dance Center and attending numerous workshops and conventions. Miss Jes has been an instructor and choreographer at dance studios, private schools, and gymnastics schools in both WV and MD as well as local theaters.

Miss Jes’ teaching history includes Dance Instructor (as well as Managing Director) at New Hopewell Center for the Arts in WV; Dance Instructor at Betty Jane’s Center of Dance Art in MD; and Ballet Instructor at St. James School in MD. Miss Jes has also conducted dance workshops for gymnastics teams in the Frederick, MD area.

Miss Jes has an extensive choreography history with such credits as: numerous recital pieces over the years for studios where she has been employed as a Dance Instructor; choreographer for the Youth Summer Workshop and several shows at the Apollo Civic Theater, including shows included Fiddler on the Roof and Bye, Bye, Birdie; and Assistant Choreographer at St. James School in Hagerstown, MD.

Miss Jes’ performance history includes Dance Captain for several shows including Pippin and Anything Goes.

Miss Jes teaches Ballet, Jazz, and Tap and helps Miss Jessica with Musical Theater.

Due to continued delays in the build-out process, we are unable to begin our Adult drop-in classes until our space is complete. We should be in our space by December 1st ; however, please continue to watch our website and social media for updates.
